Brief Introduction of Speaker:
Yujie He is a project scientist of the Department of Earth System Science, UC Irvine. She obtained her PhD from Purdue University in 2014, and BS from Fudan University. Her research focuses on the carbon-climate feedback of the terrestrial ecosystem, in particular the soil organic carbon dynamics and its sequestration potential under climate change. The techniques used including model-data assimilation, uncertainty and sensitivity analysis of various conceptual models (e.g. microbial-based model), and the incorporation of 14C data in constraining soil carbon residence time. Her current work focus on the global data synthesis of soil 14C data and the development of benchmarking data products for Earth System Models (ESMs). She also works on model developments that better assimilate the 14C constraint and improve the representation of soil carbon dynamics in the ESMs. The ultimate goal is to enhance the process-based understanding of the soil carbon dynamics and its responses to the changing climate.
